William Lewis, Jr Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved husband and father, William (Bill) Lewis Jr, who left us on February 6, 2025, at the age of 80, in Summerfield, Florida. Surrounded by his wife Gina and daughter Timika in his final moments, he was a man that loved God and always cherished every moment spent with his loved ones.
He is preceded in death by parents,  Willie Lewis Sr, Cora Davis, Reverend Bennie Ray Towns Sr., Courdia Towns, Estelle Carter, Uncle LB (Bernice) Towns, Siblings Riley Towns, Annie Towns, Charles Towns, Deacon James E (Dorothy) Towns, Benny Ray Towns Jr., and Ruth Jones. Bill Lewis, Jr was born on September 20, 1944, in Clarksdale, Arkansas. He became a Christian at a very early age and eventually served as a Trustee at Family Missionary Baptist Church. He was part of the Male Chorus, and was one of the bassist that loved playing with his daughter, Timika. After graduating from Central High School in 1964, he married the love of his life, Eugenia (Gina) Cunningham, in 1966, which resulted in 59 years of marriage. He began working for several different companies includingTimken Roller Bearing, Keystone Carbon and Central Ohio Transit Authority. Upon retiring, he and his wife moved to Florida and are currently members of Ramah MBC, Inc., under the leadership of Dr. Melvin E. Cotton Jr. Senior Pastor.
He is survived by wife, Deaconess Eugenia (Gina) Lewis. Children: Timika (Carl) Scott, Trina (Carvell) Williams, William Kenyon Lewis, and Tamara Sidney. God daughter:Qiana Webb, Florida adopted daughter: Renee Holmes. Special nephew & niece:Everett (Carrera) La’Marr, Raine (James) Anderson, Grandkids: Shakela (Missy) Cattledge, Dezhanae (Bengaly) Diawara, Brooklyn Sidney, Trinity Clark, Carvell Williams II, Anissia Williams, Denzel Williams, Carl Jr (Kierra) Scott, Darius Scott, Carlie Scott and Tamaryn Scott. Great grandkids: Ava Diawara, Asad Diawara, Gavin Scott, Evelyna Scott, Zaheer Scott, and Jonah Scott. Bonus grandkids: Artasia (Drake) Goosby, McKenna Hensley, and Alayiah Taylor. Best friend, Elder Berford (Rose) Gammon and Minister Douglas Wheeler. He is survived by his sisters: Mary Reynolds, Elizabeth La’Marr, Dorothy F Taylor, Arlie Noel and Louise Forrest. Brothers: John Towns, Frank (Ann) Towns, LB(Christina)Towns, Samuel E Towns Sr., James Levine (Mona) Towns, Nate (Mandy) Towns, Kevin(Camille) Towns, and Randy (Philicia) Towns, and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
To commemorate his remarkable life and the memories we cherish, a service will be held at Family Missionary Baptist Church, 996 Oakwood Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43206 on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 9:30 am, Pastor Frederick V La’Marr, officiating. The viewing hours are from 8:30 am – 9:30 am. We welcome all who knew him to join us in celebrating the life of a man who was loved deeply and will be remembered forever.
