Ushawnda Jones passed away unexpectedly on February 2nd, 2025 at 5:22am at the young age of 41.Ushawnda a.k.a. “Coko” was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1983 to Phyllis Jones and Ralph Taylor. She spent most of her adolescent years in Cleveland where she was raised between her Grandmother Patt and her oldest sister La’Tonya. She was the youngest of six kids, 2 boys and 4 girls. Living in King Kennedy Projects, Coko attended East Tech High School where she ran track, and held the record for the fastest 100-meter dash at 3.8 seconds for many years. During her later teen years she moved around a lot before deciding to settle down in Columbus, Ohio where she became a Godmother, obtained her G.E.D., and got her first apartment.
Although Coko’s immediate family were all located in Cleveland she didn't let that stop her from visiting on holidays and showing up for celebrations. Coko continued to grow her own family with four children in Columbus before moving back to her hometown in 2013 for one year. Coko was eager to return back to Columbus the next year, it was clear she loved the family and friends she made there.Coko loved very hard which made losing her mother and her two sister’s much harder to deal with daily, but she still made every occasion memorable with her off tune singing, her unforgettable laugh, and her dancing that would turn heads. Coko was a Mother, Sister, Aunty, Grandmother, and Best Friend to many. Her kids were her strength through everything even till her last breath. She worked hard in every stage of her life while etching life long memories across Ohio. She will be missed.
