Terry Leonard Jones

Terry Leonard Jones, 65, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025.

A proud 1978 graduate of Man High School, Terry played football for the Man High Hillbillies before enlisting in the United States Air Force. He honorably served his country for 10 years, working as an airplane mechanic and later training as an electrician. Terry’s dedication, strong work ethic, and spirit of service left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his loving mother, Annie Steele; sisters, Betty Rodriguez, Cynthia Jones, and Lillie Jones; brother, Robert (Sharon) Jones; sister-in-law, Lillian Drew of Suffolk, VA; and his beloved stepsons, Donta’ Carter of Portsmouth, VA, William Carter of Newport News, VA, and Dwayne Carter of Augusta, GA. Terry also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family who will forever cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his father, Elroy Jones; sisters, Tawana Jones, Anna Robinson, and Christinia Helms; and brothers, Roger Jones, Willie Jones, and Tracy Jones.

A celebration of Terry’s life, with Military Honors, will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Smoot Funeral Services Chapel, 4019 E. Livingston Avenue, Columbus, Ohio. Friends and loved ones are warmly invited to gather in remembrance and honor the legacy he leaves behind.

Terry will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire all who knew and loved him.
