Samuel "Jay" Berry, Jr was born in Jackson Mississippi on December 7, 1958. The Berry family relocated to Columbus, Ohio in 1959 to Eastgate Apartments. Later they would move to Lisa Drive in 1963 where he grew up. Jay attended Brentnell Elementary and graduated from Linden McKinley High School. He was an over-the-road truck driver for several years. After he stopped driving trucks he went to work for Abbott Foods, and then Sysco Food Services. Ultimately, he went to work for the City of Columbus Sanitation Department for nine and a half years from which he
retired. In addition, Jay was a long- time member of Jerusalem Baptist Church. In 1994, he met Linda, who became his loving, devoted wife, when they married on February 25, 2008. Jay had three precious daughters whom he treasured: Cassandra (Casey), Carlisa and Elesa.
He was preceded in death by his parents Sam Berry, Naomi (Walker) Berry, Letitia Cook, Patricia Hale, Robert (Boo) Berry, Gregory A. Berry, & nephew Barry (Keith) Cook.
Loving memories are cherished by his loving wife, Linda, daughters, Cassandra (Casey) Myles, Carlisa Berry, Elesa Brooks, brothers, John Bogan (Ruthye) of California, Kent Berry (Carol) of Kansas City, sister, Sandra Mullins (Milton) of Mississippi, grandchildren better known to them as "grumpy", Maleka Myles, Makalyn Banks, Tre`Shawn Brooks, Tre`Nasha Brooks, Teajay Solis
Brooks, Ty`lynn Solis Brooks, Ty`Anna Solis Brooks, True Brooks, Domoniq Berry, a host of nieces and nephews, and special friends, Percy Mitchell, and Sandy Simmons.
