Robert E. Collins Sr., 74, of Columbus, Ohio departed this life on earth to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 17, 2026. He was born on October 22, 1951, in Cascilla, Mississippi from the union of Surrie Collins Sr. and Martha Ann Collins. Robert was educated in the local public school system and worked as a master mason -brick layer in Columbus, Ohio. He was well skilled at his craft of laying brick, block, and stone. He continued to perfect his craft by attending Columbus State Community College. He was awarded several Parade of Home awards. He enjoyed being around family and friends, traveling home to Mississippi, stopping into Memphis, Tennessee, and was known for his ribs.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Surrie Collins Sr. and Martha Ann Collins; special friend, Connie Collins; sister, Dorothy (Porter) Fitts; brothers, Ulysses, John Henry, Edward, Joseph (Mary), Surrie Collins Jr.; daughter: Joyce Collins; grandchildren; Imani Hill, KaLen Smith, Lentwan Smith II.
He is survived by brothers, Lawrence (Tina) Collins and Alonzo Collins; sister-in law, Dorothy Collins; special friend: Theresa Collins, son: Robert (Kay) Collins Jr.; daughters: Melissa Collins, Cornelia Collins, Robin Golden, Tracie Smith, Sandra (Robert) Hill, 25 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Home-Going Services 10AM Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Cornerstone Pentecostal Church, 2143 Joyce Ave., Columbus, Ohio. Family will receive friends 9AM until time of service. Interment, 10AM Monday, March 30, 2026, at Green Lawn Cemetery, 1000 Greenlawn Ave., Columbus, Ohio.
