Patricia Browder Obituary

Patricia Ann Browder, affectionally known as “Pat and Trish”, was the sixth child born to Mr. & Mrs. Emmett J & Hattie Mae Browder on December 18, 1948, in Clanton, AL.

Patricia received her primary education from The Chilton County Public School System and graduated early with honors. Patricia was a member of the first group of African American girls to attend nursing school at Chilton County Hospital. Patricia lived in Clanton Alabama until the early 1970's where she developed many friendships during this period of her life and many of them remained lifetime relationships. She accepted Christ at an early age at the Union Baptist Church, Clanton AL under the pastorate of Rev. Nelson H. Smith.  She relocated to Columbus in 1971. She became a founding member of the Smyrna Missionary Baptist Church under Bishop Fred L. Marshall where she served as Lead Vocalist of the Inspirational Choir and as the first Superintendent of the Sunday School. Patricia was employed by the Franklin County Department of Job and Family Services in the clerical division and as a Certified Home Child Care provider. She was one of the first Daycare Providers in the Sullivant Gardens Community.  She cared for several children throughout her life until her health began to decline. Patricia loved cooking, styling hair, sewing, telling jokes, dancing, walking, nurturing children and working in her church.  Patricia was a selfless woman; she was always willing to assist so many.  She loved all styles of music and had a beautiful voice. She often could be found singing gospel songs and hymns of faith.  In the 1970’s and 80’s you could find her at “Club Faces” appearing on Les Brown’s Radio Show which aired on WVKO as “TV MOMMA”. At the end of each dance competition, "TV MOMMA" was always the last one standing!!

Patricia made her transition early Tuesday morning December 7, 2021, at the Hospice & Palliative Care in Mooresville, NC. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Emmett J & Hattie Mae Browder; brother, James Earl; sisters, Glenda Marie Smith and Joyce Elaine Hall; and God-Sister, Gladys Jones- Tinsley.
