Obra Lee Burton, Sr

Mr. Obra Lee Burton, Sr. transitioned from this life on April 9, 2025. . Obra is preceded in death by his father, Wilburt Burton, Sr., mother, Ruby Burton, and sister, Lura Burton.

He was born in Longwood, MS on September 9, 1945. Of his six siblings, Obra was the second eldest and the oldest son. He met and married Ruth Breland in 1965 and moved to Elyria, Ohio. Obra moved his family to Columbus, Ohio in 1977. He worked with the Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority for more than 20 years before he retired. He was an avid sports fan, with baseball being his favorite. Obra is survived by his children, Vanessa Burton-Reddy (Kevin), Richie Burton (Lota), Mark Burton (Lois), Vincent Burton (Juana), Obra Burton, Jr. (Trenika), Roshanda Burton, and Dorthea Hill. His siblings, Loree Jones, Wilburt Burton Jr., OB Burton, and Dorothy Bryant. He also leaves behind 17 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He will be sorely missed by those who loved him.

Life Celebration 12PM  Thursday, April 24, 2024 in the Chapel of SMOOT FUNERAL SERVICES, 4019 E. Livingston Ave., Columbus, Ohio.  Family will receive friends 11AM until time of service.
