Napoleon Browder Obituary

Napoleon (‘Mace’ as he was called by his family and hometown friends), was born July 7, 1950, to Mr. & Mrs. Emmett J. (Hattie Mae Gilmore) Browder Jr. in Clanton, AL. Napoleon made his
transition early Tuesday morning June 9, 2026, at the Ohio State University Wexner MedicalCenter Columbus, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Donald  Bailey, granddaughter, Jamanii Brisker, daughter-in law, Sparkle Bailey; his brothers James Earl and Alvin Browder, sisters Glenda Marie Smith, Patricia Ann Browder, Joyce Elaine Hall and Sonya
Browder.

Mace was educated in the Chilton County Public School System. He accepted Christ at an early age at the Union Baptist Church, Clanton AL under the pastorate of Rev. Nelson H. Smith.      Mace moved to Columbus Ohio in the early 1970’s where he became a founding member of the Smyrna Missionary Baptist Church under the late Bishop Fred L. Marshall. He served in the choir and on the Brotherhood Board at Smyrna.

Mace was employed with Robinson’s and Sons Body shop. Mace decided to relocated to Montgomery AL where he was employed with the City of Montgomery. After his retirement with the City of Montgomery, he relocated back to Columbus Ohio in 1992 where he lived his best life surrounded by his family and friends. Mace love to listen to his old school music, dance, play cards, travel and spend time with his family. Mace was loved and Cherished by all who knew him. He brought light and love into every room he entered. He has left an indelible mark on all of our hearts and our
community. Mace will be remembered for his boundless warmth and the profound impact he made everywhere he went.

He is survived by daughter, Debra (Tim) Good of Thorsby AL, sons, Ronald (Cecy) Bailey of El Paso, TX, Napoleon and Sean Bailey of Montgomery, AL, Chris Bailey of Cincinnati, OH, Napoleon Jabbar Brisker and Derek Browder of Columbus, OH; 16- Grandchildren, 17- Great-Grandchildren; one sister Barbara Smith of Pickerington, OH, one brother Earnest (Delores) Browder of Columbus; one aunt Ruth Trice of Las Vegas NV, one uncle Norman (Evelyn) Browder of Atlanta GA; a host of relatives, bonus children and friends.

Home-Going Celebration 10AM, Saturday, June 27, 2026 at Smyrna Baptist Church, 1650 Wilson Ave., Columbus, Ohio. Family will receive friends 9AM until time of service.  Interment, Eastlawn Cemetery, 134 Woodland Ave.  Arrangements entrusted to SMOOT FUNERAL SERVICES, 4019 E Livingston Ave., Columbus, Ohio; 614-444-1463.
