Mother Margaret Ellen McCoy

Margaret Ellen Wilson McCoy was born in Columbus, Ohio on March 23, 1927, to the late Geneva Lorene Woods and William Wilson. On March 7, 2024, she transitioned from labor to reward at the age of 96. At the age of fifty-five Margaret accepted the Lord as her Saviour at Higher Ground Always Abounding Assemblies (formerly Greater Emmanuel Apostolic Church) in Columbus, Ohio. She served in many capacities at this church under the leadership of Bishop Sherman S. Watkins. Margaret was active in the following ministries: Pastor’s Aide, Bishop’s Choir, Hospitality and was appointed Mother of the Church.

Margaret was preceded in death by:mother, Geneva Lozene Woods; father, William Wilson; husband, James E. McCoy; sons, James M. McCoy, Edward B. McCoy; grandsons, Evans R. Smith Jr., Michael McCoy Jr.; daughter-in-law, Risa J. McCoy; sisters, Elizabeth Robertson, Connie Byrdsong, Estella Gray and Willetta Davis; brother, William Davis; sisters-in-law; Lillian Suber and Nellie McCoy. Margaret leaves to cherish her memory: daughters, Leneva Cason, Carrol Haag, Roberta (Evans) Smith and Minda McCoy, brother-in-law, Fred D. (Sherlyn) McCoy; 20 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; special devoted friends, Bennie Woods, Evelyn Gregory and Richard Fanning; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends. Home-Going Celebration 6PM sunday, March 17, 2024 at Higher Grounds  Always Abounding Assemblies, Inc., 970 St. Clair Ave., Columbus, Ohio 43201.  Family will receive friends 5PM until time of service.
