Michael A Thorpe

Michael A. Thorpe was born on June 21, 1967 in Bluefield, WV to the union of Jerry S. Sr. and Beverly R.  Thorpe.  He departed this life on June 8, 2021 peacefully with a smile on his face at his home in Columbus, OH.

Michael graduated from Walnut Ridge High School.  He attended the Upward Bound Summer Program at Ohio State University.  He obtained his Associate degree in Criminal Law from Central State.  Michael was an entrepreneur and love venturing out.  He loved dancing, traveling, and cooking.  He was truly the life of a party and never met a stranger.  Spending time with his family and playing with his nieces and nephews was what he enjoyed most. 

Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Jerry S. Sr. and Beverly R. Thorpe and nephew, Anthony L. Thorpe, Sr. 

Michael is survived by a loving family, siblings:  Velda, Jerry Jr. (Julie), Lee, Julia, Curtis Phillips, Teresa, and Mark Thorpe; special nieces:  Keneisha, Miesha, and Pia (Tony)Thorpe and Nicole McDaniel; special nephews:  Mark Jr., Ra’Shaun, Da’Shaun and Vinson Thorpe, Jordan Mitchell, Elisha Merchant, Levon Cross, Curtis Phillips, Jr. and James Terry, Sr.; special cousin, Anthony Howze; a good friend (neighbor), AJ; numerous other relatives and friends, and last but not least his cat, Oscar. Michael will be greatly missed by all that loved and knew him.

Life Celebration 12PM Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at Holy Rosary and St. John Catholic Church, 648 S. Ohio Ave., Columbus, Ohio.  Family will receive friends 11AM until time of service.  Interment, Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 5600 E.
