Janice Fayette Porter, age 84, peacefully went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, December 18, 2024; surrounded by family. Janice was born on February 21,1940, to Labartow and Mattie Lou Porter. Mom was the third oldest of 6 sisters. She graduated from East High School. Janice worked as a Surgical Technician for the Surgery department at Mount Carmel West Medical Center
until she retired after 20 years of Service. She also worked for Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Housekeeping retired after 16 years and worked 10 years at Eastmoor Academy as a Food Service Worker in their Cafeteria.
Janice was truly a Fashionista in her own style of dress! Mom was known for her signature hats and glasses. She loved her perfume scents; White Diamond and Passion, and her different nail color on her pinky fingers. She march to the beat of her own drum. She loved to read, polish her nails, dancing, watching her soaps, Lifetime movies and the ID channel. Mom absolutely loved Michael Jackson, his songs and his music videos! Mom deeply cherished her family. Her family was everything to her. She had an immense love for her Children, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. Her Family was the core of her life. Mom constantly reminding us to cherish each moment and hold tight to the bonds of family because it is all we have. She was very meticulous when it came to her dress and her home; very organized and tidy. Mom gave us great advice about the things of Life. Mom was a true “thrifter” shopping at thrift stores finding unique clothing with her girls and Shirley Howard and having lunch.
Janice accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Personal Savior. She was at peace with God; and was ready to be with the Lord. She was a Daughter, Sister, Mother, Aunt, Mema and Friend...She is loved and will be missed! Janice was preceded in death by her Parents, her sisters, Peggy Hendrix, Betty Redman, Lily Porter, Vickie Porter and Phyllis Holliman, Brother-in-Laws Paul Redman and Joseph J. H. Holliman, Jr., Niece Kimberly K. Young, Nephews Roger Porter and Carlton Porter, and Grandson, Joshua Tillman.
