Helen Marie Woods, the oldest child of Charles and Lucendia (Woods) Harris, was born in Henry, Tennessee
on February 21, 1944. She received her wings on June 4, 2022. Helen received Christ as her Lord and Savior at very young age. She was an avid and creative seamstress which was her profession for many years. Helen loved to sing and expressing her love for God through song. She sang in several professional gospel groups, the Gospel Harmonizers and the Gospel Interns for many years. After retiring from both choirs, she became a member of Corinthian Mission Baptist Church where she joined the Adult and Mass Choirs. As devote member to church she serviced on the Nurses
Guild, as an Usher, and the Missionary Ministries Board. Upon her death, she was a member of the Worship Center of Central Ohio. She also served as the Associate Matron and Secretary of Queen Esther Chapter number 260, Order of Eastern Star, Ancient & Accepted Scottish-Rite Masons. Daughter Helen Woods served Arabia Court number 293, National Imperial Grand Council of Ancient Arabic Order of the Mystic Shrine. In both
organizations, she served both on the local and state levels. Helen loved her family and was known to spoiled them any chance would she get. She was given the
nickname HOT-TEA by her nieces and nephews instead of Aunt Helen. This brought her great joy every timeone of the would call by her nickname.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents Charles and Lucendia (Woods) Harris; Grandparents, Jessie and Mary Woods, Charlie and Jewell Harris; Sister Kathy Burton; Brother Randy Harris.
She leaves to cherish her memory: son Harvey Woods; bonus daughter Tanya R Chiles;
grandchildren Angela Monique Coleman, Kevin and Joel Woods, Jackson Ruff; bonus grandson Miles
McPherson; brothers Charlie Woods, James (Lolanda) Woods, Edward (Belinda); sisters Charlene (Williams)
Johnson, Angela Harris, Lucynthia Harris. Numerous great grandchildren, bonus grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Life Celebration 10AM Saturday, June 18, 2022 in the Chapel of SMOOT FUNERAL SERVICES, 4019 E. Livingston Ave., Columbus, Ohio. Family will receive friends 9AM until time of service.
