Frances Roberta (Vinson) Smith

Frances Roberta (Vinson) Smith, was born April 23, 1947, in Columbus, Ohio. The daughter of the late John Henry and Emma Louise Vinson, Frances graduated from Marion Franklin High School and later worked as a Culinary Chef and managed a popular downtown restaurant. She also worked as a Head Cook at Isabel Ridgeway Nursing Home and later as a state employee at The Ohio State University.

Frances enjoyed knitting, motor cycle and race clubs. She enjoyed working puzzle books, shopping, getting her hair done (especially by her granddaughter Joyce), cooking and being around family and friends. In the family she became the birthday cake Queen and everyone had her signature cakes on their birthday.  Frances had a big heart and would do anything for anybody in need. She was not only a mother to her to children, but to everybody in the neighborhood. Frances could light up a room and put a smile on your face. She also could correct you when you’re wrong and tell you to go get a switch or a belt.

Frances was a member of St Paul Baptist Church under Pastor Almon. She loved reading the bible and going to church.

She leaves to cherish her memory, husband Floyd Smith; Daughter Edrena Guinn; Son Howard (Danita) Guinn, Jr, Step-daughter Ninette Guinn; six granddaughters Taniyah; Kyra; Lauren; Joyce; Danay; Maci; three grandsons Dameon; Tay`Zaun and Damari; two great grands Kaylia and Camdyn; Sister Lauretta Freeman; Special God sister; Pearline Gaston; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

She is preceded in death by parents John and Emma Vinson; and brother James Davis. Frances will be GREATLY missed by all that knew and loved her. She was and is definitely an angel among us.

Services will be held on  Friday, February 19, 2021 12PM at Lincoln Park Baptist Church, 675 E. Markison Ave., Columbus, Ohio 43207. Family will receive friends from 11AM until time of service. Frances will be laid to rest 10AM Monday, February 22, 2021Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 5600 E Broad St, Columbus, OH 43213.  MASKS ARE REQUIRED
