Esther L. Hawkins

Mother Esther L. Hawkins was born September 27, 1939, in Buffalo, New York to Veella Eaton-Lott and Theodore Roosevelt. At the age of nine her birth member passed away and she was raised by her parents, Deacon Willard and Grace McClain. Esther graduated from East High School in Buffalo, New York. She later married Gordon Hawkins on May 19, 1961.

Esther was gainfully employed with the John Deere Company from 1969 until she retired in 1999. Esther was a long-time and faithful member of Higher Ground Always Abounding Assemblies where she served as a mother of the church.

On June 27, 2024, at the age of 84 years old, Esther Lee Hawkins was called home to be with her Savior the Lord Jesus Christ. She is proceeded in death by her parents, Veella Lott and Theodore Roosevelt and Willard and Grace McClain; brothers, Joel Lott, Jetter Lott, Edward Lott, Clarence Lott, Dennis Taylor, and Norman Taylor; sisters, Evelyn Harding, Deloris Reed, Elsie Kelsey, Erma Gilmore, Elaine Mays, Barbara Lott, Charleymae Robinson, and special sister-in-law, Dr. Sharron Tucker.  

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Marion Lott, Wayne Hawkins, and Cheryl (William) Solomon; special brother and sisters in-laws, Philip Tucker, Walter and Patricia Gattis; grandchildren, Nicole Lott, Shannia McClendon, Otis McCoy, Marshawn Solomon, Rachel Hawkins, Anana Solomon, Dominic Solomon, and Isaac Solomon; great-grandchildren, Oliviyel Love, Corey McCoy, Shania Miles, Anisah and Jayden Emmerson, Princeton and Mae McCoy; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Home-Going Celebration will be held Friday, July 5, 2024, at 11 AM at Higher Ground Always Abounding Assemblies 870 St. Clair Avenue Columbus, Ohio 43201. Family will receive friends from 10 AM until the time of services. Dr. Sherman S. Watkins, eulogist. Interment Union Cemetery.
