Dan Detronè Hooks, III affectionately known as "Danky", 46, made his transition to be with the Lord on January 4, 2022, after a lingering illness. Dan was born in Gary, Indiana on January 17, 1975, to Dan Hooks, Jr. and Deborah Shaw (Hooks).
As a child, Dan spent a lot of time in church and confessed his love for Christ at an early age while attending Trinity Missionary Baptist Church under the late pastor W.H. Thomas. Growing up, Dan had a passion for all sports, specifically baseball, and grew up playing on the little league team at the Dan Hooks, Sr. Memorial Park field. He graduated from Roosevelt High Class of 1993. After graduation, Dan attended Cincinnati University in Ohio on an athletic scholarship. After a couple of semesters of college, Dan relocated to Columbus, Ohio, and became gainfully employed at AT&T, where he remained for over 26 years until his sudden illness. Dan will be missed tremendously and forever remembered as being the life of the party and having a heart of gold.
Dan was a devoted father, son, brother, uncle, and cousin. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Dan Hooks, Sr. & Eliza Hooks; maternal grandparents, Cecil Shaw, Sr. & Ossie Shaw.
He leaves to cherish his memories his parents, Deborah Shaw and Dan (Georgi) Hooks Jr.; sons, Jordan Hooks and Nasir Gilbert; daughters, Jade " Jomala" Hooks, Mariah "Tissy" Hooks , Zipphorah Smith and DaZhane Forrest; sister, La Toya (Desmond) Williams; brother, Deon Parker; nephews, Desi Williams, and Ra'Shad Knight; nieces, Kha'Mya Johnson and Kennedi Williams; aunties, Margie Nelson, Clara Mason, Vanessa Hooks, and Marilyn Shaw; uncles, Ernie Hooks, Norman (Naomi) Jones and Edward (Thelma) Pickens; special cousin, Nathaniel Jones III.; and a multitude of family and friends.
Home-going Celebration will be held 11AM Friday, January 14, 2022 at Cornerstone Pentecostal Church, 2143 Joyce Ave. Columbus, Ohio 43219. Family will receive friends 10AM until time of service.
