Blessed with 79 years of life, our beloved Daisy Shipp entered eternal rest on Sunday, June 2, 2024 at Mother Angeline McCrory Manor in Columbus, Ohio. She was affectionately known as “Suki” a nickname given by her grandfather which means "beloved, a liking of or fondness for. " Daisy was born on June 10, 1944 to Arthur and Mildred Lucas in Columbus, Ohio. At an early age, she and her siblings were relocated to Ronceverte, West Virginia, where she later graduated from Greenbrier High School.
Upon returning to Columbus, Ohio, she met the love of her life, Robert Shipp, and they wed on June 26, 1970. To this union, two children were born, Robin and Robert, Jr. (David). She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Traveler’s Rest Baptist Church for many years where she was an active member of the senior choir and one of the mother’s of the church. She was the leader of the Kitchen Committee for over 20 years which was her passion. One thing for sure is that she loved to cook, serve, and help others in need. She retired from Nationwide Insurance after 30 years of service. After retirement, she was a teacher’s aid at Sonshine Christian Academy, a job she sought just to look after her granddaughter.
Daisy was a kind and loving person who would do anything for anyone. She loved her church family and enjoyed serving in any capacity when needed. Though she was a kind and loving person she also had a very distinct personality and she had no problem speaking her mind in love lol. She was known to entertain family and friends down through the years with good food, laughter, and lots of fun. Her memory will be cherished forever by her loving children, Robin and Robert, Jr. (David) and her granddaughter, Rion Nelson-Shipp. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Shipp, Sister, Doris Jean, brother, Arthur Lucas, and special cousin, James Munnerlyn. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Barbara Taylor-Lucas and Jeannette Shipp, brother-in-law, Hassel Hughes, and very dear friends, Vermelle Price and Christine Thomas, a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
