Clarence Westley Lamont Franklin, affectionately known as “Skip” or “Skipper”, was born on June 26,1966 in Columbus, Ohio to Barbara and John D Franklin. Skip attended Columbus City School and graduated from East High School. Let him tell it he played for East!! Although he didn’t really play in any sports, he could tell you stats and about players in mostly every sport that was of interest to him.
Coming up in Rehoboth Temple The church in Blue with the heavenly view, he got baptized at 11years old. Skip was in the Rainbow Choir and was also a member of the Jr usher board. He traveled with the church to all national and state meetings. Clarence had a love for the fellowship with the young people that he would meet along the way.
Skipper never had children of his own, but he helped raise his four nieces. Rain or shine, he would faithfully walk them to Douglas Elementary from Main and Wilson. Skip worked for multiple people at their Barber Shops or Restaurants and Clubs. He would walk anywhere he had to go if he didn’t have any other way to get where he needed to be. As he got older and started having hip problems, Skipper would get on the bus more than walking.
