Clarence Bell Obituary

Clarence Bell Sr., affectionately known as Sonny Man or Pie Who, he was born to Emma Bell and Benny Brown Sr. in Pensacola, Florida on November 10th, 1946. He was raised and nurtured by his loving stepfather Sylvester Spencer.  He attended Ranson High School in Cantonment, Florida and graduated in 1965.  He met his wife Sellar in 1959 and was married on April 20th, 1968; of this union they have three children. In 1970, Clarence relocated to Columbus, Ohio where he worked at Columbus Auto Parts until the factory relocated to Detroit, Michigan then he became an over the road truck driver. Clarence was passionate about sports! Being a Florida boy to the core, he rooted for the Florida State Seminoles. In his younger days, he played baseball for a Florida Triple-A Team, Columbus Auto Parts and the Triad Lounge. When the weather was right you could find him riding his Honda 1000 motorcycle while smoking his Kool cigarettes or working on cars. Clarence had a deep unwavering love for his family. He liked playing spades, watching tv and going to the casino. He adored his wife’s cooking and his mother’s egg pies. You could always count on Clarence to tell you the raw un-cut truth. Clarence was baptized at Macedonia CME Methodist Church in Cantonment, Florida; where he was a Deacon. Despite his health issues he believed that “God is able, and he would carry him through.”

Clarence departed this life on Sunday December 17, 2023, at Pataskala Oaks Care Center.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Emma Bell, Benny Brown Sr. and Sylvester Spencer; Brothers Benny Brown Jr., and Melvin Coop Brown.
