Charles Edward Martin

Charles (Chuck) Edward Martin, heeding God’s call, quietly transitioned to join his wife and daughter while surrounded by his two sisters, Marcia and Vera  at Mt. Carmel East on Sunday, December 11, 2022.  He was 77 years young. Charles was a US Army veteran and retired from Columbus Police Department after 32 years of service. Sergeant  Martin was the personal liaison to Chief James Jackson, Sr.

He  is preceded in death by parents, Esau and Willa Martin Sr; wife, Joann Buffington Martin; daughter, Erica Martin; siblings, Lucille Martin Rispress, Sandy L Martin, Frances Martin Simmons, Esau Martin, Jr, Jacqueline Martin Smith, and Alice Martin.

Left to cherish his  memory, sisters, Vera  Martin Bowser and Marcia T. Smoot; grandson, Joseph (JC) Charles Ginyard, special friends,  Sergeant Charles McFadden and Chief James (Mary) Jackson, Sr.  A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Celebration of life honoring Charles 12PM Wednesday, December 28, 2022 in the Chapel of SMOOT FUNERAL SERVICES, 4019 E. Livingston Ave., Columbus, Ohio.
