Charles Payton Dickerson, Jr

Charles P. Dickerson, Jr, age 68 went home to be with the Lord May 5, 2023. Charles “Chuck” Payton Dickerson, Jr., was born June 8th, 1954 to Charles P Dickerson, Sr., and Gloria Corbett Hightower. He transitioned on Friday, May 5th, 2023. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Jonathan Hightower; aunt Barnell (Kenneth) Congdon; uncle Luey Corbett, and great aunt Mildred Holmes. He received his formal education from the Columbus Public School system and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1970. Following his time in the military he began his career as a chef under the tutelage of Chef Hartmut Handke. He was very passionate about being a chef and worked at The Athletic Club of Columbus and various Convention centers across the United States. Some of the events he has helmed over the years include the annual Arnold Classic in Columbus, Ohio and Mardi Gras in New Orleans having prepared food for thousands.
Left behind to cherish in his memory are is life partner Laura Perkins, children from a previous marriage Melanie Dickerson and Charles Dickerson III. Sisters: Rhonda Dickerson, Rosie Dickerson, Monique Hightower, and Clarnette “Punkin” Stevenson, and close cousin Sabrina Goshay. A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.. 

 Life Celebration 11AM Tuesday, May 16, 2023 in the Chapel of SMOOT FUNERAL SERVICES, 4019 E. Livingston Ave., Columbus, Ohio.  Family will receive friends 10AM until time of services.  Marcia  T Smoot, Funeral Director, 614-444-1463.
