Ceilin Ricard Peaks Smith, age 36, was called to eternal peace on June 14, 2024. His journey began in Columbus, Ohio, under the loving guidance of his parents, Roy and Linda Smith. A devoted member of Smyrna Missionary Baptist Church, Ceilin found his purpose early in life, playing the piano and drums and serving the community. His love for reading and discussing the Bible provided him with a steadfast foundation through all life’s challenges.
A 2006 graduate of Independence High School, Ceilin’s basketball career was nothing short of legendary. His incredible talent earned him multiple MVP awards and scholarships, a testament to his dedication and skill. Beyond basketball, he excelled in baseball and achieved a 10th degree black belt in karate. Ceilin’s athletic accomplishments were paralleled by the respect and love he received from friends and teammates, known for his sportsmanship, leadership, and genuine kindness. Ceilin’s children were his greatest joy and source of strength. Their laughter and love filled his life with happiness. He was immensely proud of them, and his family and friends will forever cherish the stories of his funny, loving, nurturing, and protective nature. He frequently expressed his love and appreciation to his family, with hugs, through heartfelt texts and affectionate nicknames.
He reunites with his father, Roy Lee Smith, who preceded him in death. Ceilin is survived by his mother, Linda Peaks Smith; his sister, Gwen (Gary) Sanks; his brothers, David (Pauline) Smith and Cailin Smith; and his cherished children, Calynn, Jalyne, Sydney, Corbin, Corrina, Royce, Royal and Kei’Leigh; many Uncles, Aunts, Nephews, Nieces, cousins, other relatives and dear friends. Ceilin’s legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire all who knew him, with memories, adventures, and inside jokes holding a special place in their hearts.
A celebration of Ceilin’s life will take place on 10AM Saturday, June 29th, at Smyrna Missionary Baptist Church, 1650 Wilson Ave. Columbus, Ohio. Family will receive friends 9AM until time of service. Interment, Glen Rest Memorial Estates, 8029 E Main St., Reynoldsburg, Ohio. In keeping with Ceilin’s joyful spirit, the family encourages everyone to honor his memory by doing something that brings real joy and sharing it with those around you.
