Brad Alfred Lucas

Brad Alfred Lucas, was born on March 29, 1958, in Columbus, Ohio to Ralph and Joyce Lucas. He attended West High School, where he played on the basketball team and graduated in 1977.

In 1978, Brad met the love of his life, Sheryl Cherry. The two of them welcomed their one and only child, Brad Aaron Cherry in 1982. He loved his family; they were everything to him.

In his spare time, he loved fishing, haunting, spending time with his friends, telling jokes and listening to music. Some of his favorite artistes were Earth Wind and Fire, Kem, Lakeside, Gap Band, and the Isley Brothers. Most of all, enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his wife and son. Brad loved eating chicken, Roosters to be exact.

On Monday, February 7, 2022, Brad Alfred Lucas, was called home to be with the Lord. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph, and Joyce Lucas; uncles, Percy Washington, and Ronald Alexander; cousin, Derick Alexander Jr.; special friends, Simon Williams, and Jamie Neal; and a host of aunts and uncles.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory by his soul mate and loving wife, Sheryl Cherry; only son, Brad Aaron Cherry; grandchildren, Shanta Marie Walker, Shamara Ann Cherry, Brad Aaron Cherry Jr., and Micah Omari Philiopoulos; great-granddaughter, Ta’liah Marie Walker; daughter in-law, Claudia R. Craft; brother, Craig (Lisa) Lucas; aunts, Annette “Desi” Washington and JoAnn Alexander; mother in-law, Shirley Cherry; father in-law, Bernard Cherry; special sisters in-law, Carole Cherry and Brandy Cherry; brothers in-law, Chris Cherry and Dion Cherry; special friends, Perry Ellis, Brain Davis and Kieth McClendon; special sister love, Sharon Hamrick; niece and nephew; Morgan and Craig Jones; and a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends. 

Home-going Celebration will be held 3PM Saturday, February 19, 2022 in the Chapel of SMOOT FUNERAL SERVICES, 4019 E. Livingston Ave. Columbus, Ohio 43227. Family will receive friends 2PM until time of service.  M.L. Smoot, Director, 614-444-1GOD(463). MASKS ARE REQUIRED.
