Bettie Jo Peaks, known as “Mrs. Bettie Peaks” and affectionally called “Mom, Grandma Peaks, Aunt Bettie, and Mrs. BJP”, born on October 31, 1941, to Joseph Brooks and Rosa Catherine (Irving) Brooks in Memphis, Tennessee. Bettie grew up in Battle Creek, Michigan and eventually moved to Columbus, Ohio. She was employed with Nationwide Insurance Company retiring after 40 years of dedicated services. After retirement she enjoyed spending time with her family and fur baby Rocky, shopping, eating soul food, and watching her favorite television shows. Bettie joined Mt. Hermon Baptist Church and was a faithful and dedicated member serving as an Usher and singing in the choir over 40 years.
Bettie is preceded in death by her husband; Curtis Peaks, Sr, parents; Joseph Brooks and Rose Catherine (Irving) Brooks, sister Sturla Mae (Brooks) Knox, two brothers Lonnie and Arthur (Peewee) Brooks. Bettie leaves behind to cherish her memories children; Tracy (Shereika) Peaks, Maurice Peaks, and Curtis Peaks, Jr; three sisters, Bernice (Emmett) Smith, Demetrice Cross-Battle, Teresa Smith; grandchildren, Chelsie Peaks, Maurice (Kayle) Peaks, Marquis Peaks, Tyreece Peaks “Ty”, Olivia Peaks, Arianna Peaks; great grandchildren, Amenah Penick, Melodi Tanner, O’Brien Miller, Jr., Saint Miller, Jeremiah, Elijah, Trinity, Hyndrixx Peaks; aunts, Blanche Peaks, Helen Peaks, Jeannette Jackson, Mabel Turner; nieces, Sharon Hillman, Rosemary Knox, Althea Knox, Clara LaBarre, nephew, George Knox; extended love ones, Montez Peachey, Denise Wood, Aubree Robinson, Gabby Johnson, Lottie Skipper, Edward Skipper, Ms. Rose, Della Scott; an abundance of relatives and friends that loved her dearly.
