Bethany Dawn Moore

Bethany Dawn Smith Moore was born to Bruce Smith and Shelia Williams in Sylvania, Ohio on December 12, 1976. Our beautiful Bethany was called home to Glory on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 in Columbus, Ohio. Bethany’s family moved from Sylvania, Ohio to Columbus, Ohio where is received her formal education. She attended Stewart Alternative Elementary School, and Columbus Schools for Girls for middle and high school. Bethany graduated from Bennett College, a Historically Black Liberal Arts College for Women in Greensboro, North Carolina with a bachelor’s degree in Biology.  She was a previous employee of Children’s Hospital, the City of Columbus Public Utilities department as a Chemist, and a serial entrepreneur and co-owner of multiple businesses.  

Bethany attended Saint Philip Episcopal Church during her walk with God.

Bethany is preceded in death by her father, Bruce R. Smith, grandmothers Leona Smith and Myrtle Jones Humphrey, grandfather James W. Williams, Jr., her father in law Douglas C. Moore, and her beloved dog Oscar Cornelius Moore.

Bethany is survived by her loving and devoted husband Jawanza R. Moore of 18 years, daughters Leah Dawn and Brianna Elise, mother Shelia J. Williams, brother Kevin B. Smith, grandfather Kenton Smith, aunt Lisa Smith (Steven Hecker), Claire Williams (Derrick Morrison), uncles Kent Smith, Leon Smith, Sr. and Clifton Williams; cousins Leon Smith, Jr., Anthony Smith, Joel Smith, Yashica Williams, and Chloe Williams;  mother-in-law Sharon C. Moore, brother-in-law Jamal Moore (Nahshon), and niece Jihan Moore host of other relatives, friends and neighbors.

Celebraation of Life 1PM Friday, January 12, 2024 at Travelers Rest Church 1533 Cleveland Ave. Columbus, Ohio. Family will receive friends 12PM until time of service. Interment, Evergreen Burial Park.
