Arthur attended Champion Junior High School. He attended Central and East High Schools where he was a member of the basketball teams. After high school, Arthur also served in the United States Marine Corp.
Arthur was an avid fisherman who loved building and fixing things with his hands. He loved to work in his garden, playing many hours of Scrabble, and was excellent at shooting pool in his free time. His main hobby and love was cooking big meals for his family and during holidays. In 2002, after many years of dedicated service, Arthur retired from The United Steel Workers of America Local 2173 (Timkens Roller Bearing Company).
Arthur is preceded in death by his parents Howard Loveless and Margaret Perry, brother Robert “Bobby” Oakes, and sister Karen Jefferson.
Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife of 45 years Theresa Perry. Sister Julia White, Children: Jeff Perry, Apryl Pitts (Ronald), and Aaren Stephens (Eugene); Step-Children Maurice Young (Dawn), Michael Gay (Sharon), Kim Robinson and Paula Gay; Grandchildren: Anthony Gay, Jacquelynn Green (Takia), Sierra Hodges (Eddie), and Jasmine Young. Special Son-In-Law Clay Robinson; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Home-going services: 12PM Monday, July 24, 2023 in the Chapel of SMOOT FUNERAL SERVICES, 4019 E. Livingston Ave., Columbus, OH 43227. Family will receive friends at 11AM until the time of service.
